This year's guests of honor will be all World War II veterans and James E. Prosser, assistant secretary for Veterans Affairs for North Carolina.

Where: The parade begins at Roswell Street Baptist Church and travels through Marietta Square. It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I, as major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the armistice with Germany went into effect.

Mullins said he will speak about the importance of military veterans and what they've given in service to the nation.

Enjoy the 13 Annual Veterans Day Parade in Marietta led by Grand Marshal Colonel Mike Varicak, U.S. Marine Corps. Dennis Turner, retired from the U.S. Coast Guard; AVA Chairman Thomas Alford; and Andrews Mayor Frank McClary.

"The American Legion, Department of IN understands veterans and their families are facing growing numbers IN suicide and death resulting from the lack of safe medical alternative treatment options", the group said IN a release sent out Wednesday.

The Pike County American Legion Family will host the Pike County Veterans Day Program on the south side of the courthouse square in Zebulon at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.

"Please join the community as we say "thank you" and show our appreciation to current active duty military and veterans past and present for defending the freedoms that we enjoy today", said Post 197 commander Bryan Richardson.

The meal is designed not only to honor those who have and are now serving our country but also serves as a fundraiser.
