Pictures of Jude Law as young Dumbledore have the internet swooning

The picture captures Law with Dumbledore's signature wand off to the left in a casual but captivating lean. The next Harry Potter spin-off will be titled Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and is set to hit theaters in November 2018. Fans can also catch a glimpse of Johnny Depp in full character as Gellert Grindelwald, the film's villain.

Back in April, the makers of "Fantastic Beasts" announced that Jude Law would be playing young Dumbledore in the upcoming sequel. While he attempts to drum up support for his cause, Albus Dumbledore will be working on a plan to stop him with the help of Newt Scamander. Clearly his capture by MACUSA won't last for very long, and Grindelwald is still intent on exposing the wizarding community to the non-magical world.

The franchise, which takes place inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, is aiming to reach a total of five films when all is said and done.

But the photo also teases the inevitable duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

Fantastic Beasts 2: First look at Jude Law as Dumbledore, title revealed

Dumbledore is a crucial player in the next chapter (s) of the Fantastic Beasts story.

The first film earned a respectable $234 million domestically and $814 million worldwide - less than the previous Harry Potter films but more than a mostly unrelated prequel was expected to gross, Forbes reported.

The movie stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Zoƫ Kravitz and Callum Turner.

The "Fantastic Beasts" movies seem to be building up to this epic wizard battle. In the forthcoming sequel, Dumbledore will recruit his favorite former student, Newt Scamander, to help him take down Grindelwald's rising evil army. I'm also super-intrigued by the fact that Newt's beloved Leta is now engaged to his brother-and what man named Theseus won't be a mixed bundle of heroism and pathos-and Claudia Kim's new character Maledictus sounds like my favorite blend of angst and badassery.
