Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) Receives FCC Certification, Hinting Imminent Launch

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) Receives FCC Certification, Hinting Imminent Launch

Back at the beginning of November, Samsung introduced a brand new color variant of its flagship Galaxy S8 called Burgundy Red. The handset is now also available in "Burgundy Red", a colour which for now is exclusive to the Galaxy S8 only.

Samsung may switch to Android 8.1 at a later stage in the testing process, but conventionally the company usually handles things, it might not happen until a few months after the Galaxy S9 has gone on sale.Software development takes a lot of time to run through various phases.

Samsung is planning to launch its new Galaxy S9 smartphones in January, and is going with a different supplier for the fingerprint sensor, according to new reports.

Dutch-language site GalaxyClub has it learned that Samsung is now testing the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ with Android 8.0.0 Oreo, but not Android 8.1, which is now available in beta on Pixel and Nexus devices.

Google released Android 7.1 Nougat in December, but the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge both featured Android 7.0 Nougat at launch. Even though there are no final words by Samsung on the J5 Prime 2018 edition, going by the reports, it looks like the smartphone may be released in the early days of 2018, as reported by Android Headlines. The Galaxy S8+ is however, available in an additional colour - Coral Blue. Besides the beautifully rich red color on the rear, the other specs and features are expected to stay the same.

Samsung will supposedly launch two models, a Galaxy S9 (SM-G960) and a Galaxy S9+ (SM-G965). You can get the device from e-commerce websites in India at around Rs 58,000.

The security patch also brings fixes for a variety of bugs that were found in the Android operating system and Samsung's own software for the Galaxy Note 8.
