Referee Kane Fitzgerald Says LeBron James Threw Air Punch, Used Vulgarity

Referee Kane Fitzgerald Says LeBron James Threw Air Punch, Used Vulgarity

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James has been ejected from an National Basketball Association game for the first time in his 15-year career.

The Cavs' small forward was sent off after arguing with referee Kane Fitzgerald about a no-call late in the third quarter, following a drive to the basket against his old team. Johnson took a swipe at the ball and James missed a runner. But Fitzgerald called a technical foul against the Cleveland star over his loud protests, and ejected him from the game. The Heat couldn't capitalize, however, as the Cavaliers triumphed 108-97 for their ninth straight victory.

Although Irving's comments may have indicated that he, like everyone else, thought James' ejection was questionable, it does not seem as if he wanted to stir the pot more than it already has been.

Despite losing James, the Cavaliers extended their win streak to nine games - the team's longest since 2015 - behind Kevin Love's 38 points, 32 of which came in the first half. However, it is more likely that Irving just has more pressing matters to deal with than a former teammate's first career ejection. "That particular play, I got fouled all the way up the court".

"I got fouled and showed my frustration to the ref, and he sent me to the locker room", James told reporters after the game.

Green got the hot hand on Monday and got some extended run with his most minutes in eight games.
