Colin Kaepernick up for TIME person of the year

Colin Kaepernick up for TIME person of the year

The #MeToo Movement is on Time Magazine's short list for "2017 Person of the Year".

TIME's first selection was Charles Lindbergh, the first person to make a solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic.

Trump was 2016's TIME Person of the Year. The undocumented immigrants, who were brought to the country as children, are at risk of deportation if the government's Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals program ends next year.

Trump also called Kaepernick's protests against police brutality and racial inequality during the national anthem "terrible", called Kim Jong Un "Little Rocket Man", and has repeatedly claimed Mueller's investigation of possible collusion with Russian Federation will be fruitless.

With Kim's threats of nuclear war, Xi's influence as China's most powerful leader in decades, and, of course, Trump's status as president of the United States, the news cycle has been a whirlwind this year.

President Trump faces off with victims of sexual assault, Kim Jong ...

Kapernick is now not signed with a team, and recently filed a grievance against NFL owners, who he said blackballed him within the league.

This season, hundreds of players have taken a knee before the anthem; some in criticism of President Donald Trump calling for the firing and suspension of players who disrespect the anthem. The investigation has led to charges against four individuals including former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn.

It would be quite an achievement for Trump to score the honor in two consecutive years. The #MeToo movement gained traction after a slew of prominent Hollywood figures were accused of sexual misconduct. "I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway", the President wrote on his personal Twitter, which has also been the source of major controversy and feuds involving him since his election. If he wins the coveted spot, President Donald Trump could possibly tweet about wining a second term as Time's Person of the Year.

The magazine will announce its 2017 pick Wednesday morning.
