Production on House Of Cards to resume in 2018 without Kevin Spacey

"We have made an arrangement to produce six seasons of "House of Cards"," Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said at a UBS media conference. The production for the sixth season will reportedly start around the beginning of 2018 and will be the final season for the show. Now, Netflix has announced that production on the series will officially resume next year with Robin Wright set to be the star of the series moving forward.

"We're very excited we were able to come to a good creative conclusion to the show", Sarandos told investors.

Netflix and Media Rights Capital have finally figured out their way forward on House of Cards.

Spacey is one of the most high-profile scalps in the torrent of allegations that have brought down male power players from the worlds of politics, finance, entertainment and journalism, in the wake of accusations targeting movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

After the reports began to surface in late October, Netflix announced it was cutting ties with the actor.

Wright plays the wife of Spacey's scheming politician character Frank Underwood on the show. Past seasons have had 13 episodes. Spacey was officially suspended from the show early last month.

A representative for Spacey did not respond to a request for comment.

Following Rapp's allegation, Spacey said in a post on Twitter he does not remember the alleged incident.

There's no word on when Season 6 will premiere but given the delay, it might not be complete until Fall or Winter 2018. Director Ridley Scott digitally replaced Spacey with Christopher Plummer in his new film All the Money in the World.
