Is JuJu Smith-Schuster a victim of new National Football League precedent?

Is JuJu Smith-Schuster a victim of new National Football League precedent?

Both Smith-Schuster and Bengals defensive back George Iloka were suspended for a game Tuesday by the NFL in the wake of an ugly Monday Night Football game, the league announced.

With 7:10 remaining in Pittsburgh's eventual 23-20 win, Smith-Schuster leveled Burfict as the linebacker pursued Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell on a 12-yard gain, then stood over Burfict as he lay motionless.

Meanwhile, JuJu Smith-Schuster has had his suspension upheld by the same group of football experts, despite barely impacting the helmet of the league's most violent offender when it comes to illegal hits.

JuJu Smith-Schuster's blindside helmet-to-helmet block on Vontaze Burfict started off as a dirty and finable offense. All-Pro wideout Antonio Brown went as far calling the incident "karma" for all of the questionable hits Burfict had placed on Steeler players over the years.

If he loses the appeal, the Steelers will face the Ravens without a receiver who has caught 37 balls for 585 yards and five touchdowns this season.

Gronkowski's hit was debatably more malicious than Smith-Schuster's. "We already play a high-injury sport", said, via NFL.com. He even offered to pay Smith-Schuster's fine.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said he was surprised by the suspension.

Ben Roethlisberger doesn't think that's right. "You do the wrong things, you get the wrong things out of it". He is a better sportsman than he displayed after the block and you got to acknowledge that.

Asked if that comment was related to Burfict, Brown said, "I ain't talking about nobody".

"I was just playing to the whistle", Smith-Schuster said.

Meanwhile, Antonio Brown, the star of the show, is still working through a sprained toe that had him questionable for Monday's game.
