High-profile women in Hollywood have been standing up in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations across entertainment, with both movie and television stars speaking out about sexual harassment and protesting gender inequality.

In a statement Sunday, the advocates said they were inspired by the Time's Up initiative, which launched Monday with the backing of hundreds of Hollywood women, like Streep, Reese Witherspoon and Shonda Rhimes.

"Each of us will be highlighting legislative, community-level and interpersonal solutions that contribute to ending violence against women in all our communities". She's an important voice when it comes to women's rights and is an activist for helping ordinary women receive some the treatment that they deserve.
