Airtel ₹448 and ₹509 prepaid plans revised: Here's what has changed

Well now, the telco has made some revisions to both these plans to offer more benefits to its customers. Airtel subscribers recharging for Rs 448 or Rs 509 get extended validity and with it comes extra 1GB data per day benefit as per the new trend in popular plans. These are the price points of the 1GB data per day plan, meaning consumers are essentially getting 50 percent more data at roughly the same price.

Reliance Jio is beginning the New Year by slashing the prices of some of its packs and adding more 4G data to others. Airtel's Rs 448 plan now comes with validity of 82 days, compared to 70 days previously.

The company had last month announced two plans priced at Rs 199 and Rs 299 with with 28 days validity offering 1.2 GB and 2 GB data per day, respectively. Apart from the change in validity, all other plans remain the same.

Starting with the crop of discounted plans, each is now Rs 50 lighter on the pocket. This will bring down the base price of Jio plans with 1GB data per day to Rs. 149, down from the current Rs. 199.

Airtel has chose to also provide unlimited calling facility to its users but with "terms and conditions"; voice calls limited to 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week.

All Jio plans will continue to offer free unlimited calling and SMSes within India even during roaming. But under terms and conditions, the voice calls are limited to 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week. These include the Rs 198 scheme which has increased its data promise from 28GB to 42GB, a 14GB boost. It puts FUP of 3GB data per day. The user will get 70GB data over a period of 70 days. Under this offer, customers will get 84GB of 4G data with a daily cap of 1GB data. It will now compete against Airtel's Rs 509 plan which also offers same amount of data. However, the up to 250 mins/day and/or 1000 mins/week limit stays on calls.
