Among 4 New Laptops, Acer Introduces World's Thinnest Laptop

Even the 2017 model, which we reviewed a year ago, was a whole millimetre thicker - and while that might not sound like much, the 2018 Swift 7 (codename "SF714-51T") is remarkably slender.

Acer sells a wide variety of notebooks at any given time, so it's no surprise that the company announced a number of new models at CES this year. The Swift 7 will debut in March for $1699, while the new Nitro 5 notebooks will appear in May with a starting price of $799.

At CES 2018, Acer showcased three new laptops: the AMD-powered Nitro 5 gaming laptop, the elegant and ultra-lightweight Swift 7 and a revamped Chromebook 11 with a USB Type-C port for those on a tighter budget.

The Nitro 5 is built for gamers who aren't looking for a laptop with an aggressive design, such as those found on Acer's Predator range.

In case you're anxious about the performance and power of this thin laptop, keep those worries aside. The laptop supports both laptop and tablet modes, thanks to its 360-degree dual-torque hinge, and a newer 8th-gen Intel Core processor that the Swift 7 line lacks. The Swift 7 is an always-connected PC running Windows 10 and is as thin as 8.98 mm. Some connectivity features of the gaming laptop includes USB Type-C, HDMI 2.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. You can configure up to 32GB of RAM and 512GB SSD storage.

The Swift 7's unibody aluminum chassis is pleasing to the eye and gentle to touch, flawless for modern professionals seeking a sophisticated look.

Besides its sheer thinness, the rest of the Acer Swift 7 specs are pretty impressive too. It now features an AMD Radeon RX560 graphics card and the latest Ryzen mobile processors.

The Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop (above) isn't the most expensive nor the fastest out there.

Due to the high performance hardware installed in the system the Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop is only capable of providing a few hours of play while away from a mains connection, although this is not going to cause an issue for most. Acer's Chromebook 11 will start at $249 and be available in North America in April.

Acer is adding some more options to its Nitro 5 lineup.

Lastly, Acer has updated the convertible Spin 3 with eighth-generation Intel processors.

The new Acer Swift 7 is coming to the USA in March with a starting price of $1,699 (approximately Rs. 107,500), while the Spin 3 will go on sale in February at an initial price of $599 (roughly Rs. 37,900).

The laptop is powered by the 8 generation Intel core processor, with a maximum battery life of 12 hours.
