Fired engineer who wrote sexist manifesto sues Google

A Google engineer who was sacked after writing a memo defending the gender gap in Silicon Valley tech jobs as a matter of biology has sued his former employer for discrimination. The memo in which he criticized the company's hiring practices, and claimed that disparities between men and women in the technology industry were at least partially due to behavioral differences between those genders due to biology, led to his firing from the company in August.

Damore was one of two plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit filed on Monday to Santa Clara Superior Court in Northern California by Dhillon Law Group.

In August, Google fired Damore for "perpetuating gender stereotypes".

As a class action lawsuit, the suit welcomes all former or current Google employee who have been discriminated against due to being white, male, or having "unpopular political views" to join.

"Google's open hostility for conservative thought is paired with invidious discrimination on the basis of race and gender".

"Google employs illegal hiring quotas to fill its desired percentages of women and favored minority candidates, and openly shames managers of business units who fail to meet their quotas - in the process, openly denigrating male and Caucasian employees as less favored than others."

Damore was sacked last summer after he wrote a memo criticizing Google for pushing mentoring and diversity programs and for "alienating conservatives".

Damore and Dhillon are expected to have a press conference at 12 p.m.in San Francisco.

He said he felt his suit would "really help make Google a truly inclusive place".

Months later, Damore has now decided that it was unfair for Google to fire him for his sexist rhetoric, so he's suing them for ... discrimination against white males.
