Google Unifies Its Payment Platforms, Introduces Google Pay

After years of brainstorming - Google finally has had the genius idea of unifying both these platforms under a single brand.

Google just announced Google Pay, a unifying brand that aims to gather all of its payments systems under one and the same roof. The fruit of that work is the new Google Pay platform.

The P2P money sending platform Google Wallet's all of the features are implemented in the Google Pay system, at the same time with all capabilities of Android Pay.

If you've ever paid for groceries with Android Pay, used Chrome to automatically fill in your payment info, or purchased an app on Google Play, then you've already experienced some of the ways Google helps you pay for things online and in stores.

"With Google Pay, it'll be easier for you to use the payment information saved to your Google Account, so you can speed through checkout with peace of mind".

Google Pay definitely sounds better as a way to unite the company's payment solutions.

Google boasted on its blog that Google Pay is supported by a handful of services today, including Airbnb and Fandango.

Like the distinction between Google's similar instant-messaging apps Allo and Duo, or the repurposing of Google Hangouts into a business-focused communications tool, the line drawn between Google Wallet and Android Pay was confusing, unnecessary, and probably posed a setback to brand adoption.
