Lemar helps Monaco beat Nice in League Cup quarters

Lemar has been included in Monaco's squad for Tuesday's Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final at Nice, but striker Radamel Falcao is out with a calf injury.

Philippe Coutinho, an integral part of the Liverpool's fabulous four, consisting the lethal trio of Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino, left England to complete his dream move to La Liga giants Barcelona.

Liverpool's pursuit of Thomas Lemar has been given a major boost after AS Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim admitted that the club could be open to doing business during the ongoing January transfer window.

Lemar had earlier in the summer transfer window rejected a move to Arsenal.

Let's hope one of those things is a move to Arsenal.

"But the thing is as well, as much as I would would love him to go to Liverpool because I think he would suit this team perfectly, he can play in different positions, he's so good on set-pieces, that left foot is unbelievable, I think Klopp would make him even more world-class than he already is in many ways, there's a couple of things".

And according to the Mirror, Monaco would be seeking an eye-watering fee of at least £90 million if they were to sell the 22-year-old.

The French midfielder - who nearly moved to the Gunners on the summer deadline day - nodded home after just three minutes on the French Riviera.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday afternoon, the 43-year-old Portuguese said "we are not used to selling in the winter".

Lemar is one of the best young midfielders in Europe and will certainly enhance the quality of the current Liverpool midfield.

"It might happen. I think it won't happen now but more [likely] in the summer than now, in January, but it might still happen before I get abused by Liverpool fans. But I can see why Liverpool want it to happen now as well".
