Kim Jong-un loves tell-all Donald Trump book

In it, he made two major points: first, North Korea's quest to develop nuclear weapons capable of reaching the USA had been successfully completed; second Pyongyang was willing to talk with Seoul about taking part in the Winter Olympic Games the South is hosting this year.

"I believe, Mr Kim Jong-un has certainly won this round", he added, also saying that the leader "has a nuclear (charge) and a ... missile with a range of up to 13,000 kilometers that can reach nearly any place on Earth or at least any territory of his potential adversary". "How responsible people around him, or supporting him, can dismiss this or laugh it off is beyond me". You don't have to look hard here to find people who are sure President Moon Jae-In is falling into a "trap" set by Kim to ensnare him into more or less having to accede to whatever he wants, beginning with the breakup of the U.S. -ROK alliance. Both men are now in his Cabinet.

But asked whether he had spoken to Kim, Trump responded: "I don't want to comment on it".

"I could give you 20 examples", he continued without providing examples. You could give me 30. "I'm a very flexible person", he told the paper.

Earlier this week North Korean and South Korea engaged in public diplomatic meetings for the first time in nearly two years after Kim had suggested he was interested in sending athletes to the Winter Olympics in South Korea in February.

Might Trump, after the Games, reverse himself yet again and gamble on a pre-emptive strike against North Korean missile and nuclear sites?

What South Korea may well want to see less of is USA sabre rattling, particularly U.S. aerial exercises demonstrating the ability to strike North Korea's nuclear sites if necessary. These, and many other new elements that have appeared in drills over the past several months, have elicited growing concern that different elements of a combined arms operation against North Korea are being methodically rehearsed and that "zero hour", as they put it, is not too far away. Forward-deployed USA nukes would also ease Japanese concerns, both about North Korea and about China, and decrease the likelihood of Tokyo going down the very short path to its own nuclear weapons.

Chun said: "I try to explain to the Americans - if we have to go into North Korea, it is not going to be like going into Iraq or Afghanistan. And I know more about wedges than any human being that's lived".

Trump told the Journal in his nearly hour-long interview that Lewandowski had more to do with his campaign's success than Bannon.

An M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Field Artillery Regiment, 210th Field Artillery Brigade, 2nd Republic of Korea/United States Combined Division, fires an MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile into the East Sea off South Korea, July 5, 2017.

It would be a major departure from the Trump administration's past policy to engage in direct talks with North Korea's leader.
