Trent Boult's fifer helps New Zealand clinch series against Pakistan

Sarfraz was helped along by Mohammad Amir (14) and Rumman Raees (16) as the three added 42 for the last two wickets, but the captain saw serious problems with the top order batting.

In the face of New Zealand's 258 run target, the Pakistan side lost all its wickets at a meagre total of 74 runs scored in 28 overs.

New Zealand has now consistently been improving its winning percentage in ODIs against Pakistan, which at the moment stands at 45.40 percent.

Munro only faced three balls from Faheem Ashraf in the second over - a six, two and caught behind, and New Zealand were 15 for one after 10 balls.

Williamson never looked particularly fluent but reached 73 off 101 deliveries while Taylor made 52 off 64 deliveries.

A 20-run partnership between captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Mohammad Amir took the score past the lowest-ever ODI total of 35, which Pakistan risked changing, and then past 43, which is Pakistan's lowest team total in ODI cricket.

With Pakistan's top order decimated following a fiery spell from Kiwi paceman Trent Boult, the Men in Green were facing the ignominy of recording the lowest ever one-day global score as they teetered on a scarcely believable 32-7.

While the bowlers tightened the noose around the Pakistan batsmen from on end, on the field it was skipper Kane Williamson who offered no respite as he pulled off a one-handed blinder to get rid of Hasan Ali.

Boult was awarded man of the match honours, finishing the innings with 5/17 off 7.2 overs.

"To score only 250 on the board we knew we had to fight hard and to come out like that was very satisfying".

"Fantastic performance all-round. It was a tough surface to get in on and gain momentum".

"That´s the focus. The focus is trying to win each game".
