NATIONAL SIGNING DAY: Local student-athletes sign letters of intent

The chaos is now spread out for college recruits.

After a recruiting process that spanned multiple years the 2018 recruiting class will be finalized on Wednesday, Feb. 7 - National Signing Day.

It wouldn't be signing day if a parent, decked in the gear of rival SEC schools, didn't walk off a live shot on national television after her son picked a third SEC school. They finished strong as well, picking up four prospects.

Ohio State has two five-star prospects and 19 four-star talents, while Georgia has six five-star prospects and 12 four-star talents.

The coaching carousel was wild this year, with several prominent men switching jobs.

Alabama was able to sign Patrick Surtain, Jr., the top-rated cornerback in the country out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. while Auburn inked running back Harold Joiner from Mountain Brook High School.

Five-star safeties Caden Sterns (Cibolo Steele) and B.J. Foster (Angleton) headline Tom Herman's first full recruiting class with the Longhorns. South Grand Prairie four-star safety Atanza Vongor is TCU's top defensive recruit.

Georgia signed the consensus No. 1 class in the country, followed by Ohio State and Texas. Rutgers signed a decent class (247Sports ranked the group 57th) led by Old Bridge, N.J., quarterback Artur Sitkowski, a one-time Miami commit who put pen to paper in December, and nine other players from New York City or New Jersey.
