Johnny and Daniel face off again in first 'Cobra Kai' teaser

In the first Cobra Kai teaser trailer, Johnny (Zabka) reopens the Cobra Kai dojo in a last ditch effort to make something of himself.

This has a much more serious tone than I was expecting, but that's not surprising since YouTube Global Head of Original Content Susanne Daniels told us earlier this year that it was more of a dramedy.

While it was assumed that Cobra Kai would manifest as a sequel that bears elements of self-parody, we see here that the rivalry between Daniel and Johnny - who seemed to reach a reasonable détente at the end of the first film - is somehow more heated than it was over 30 years ago. "Cobra Kai" is scheduled to arrive sometime this year. Seeking to reclaim what glory he had from the past, Johnny reopens the infamous karate dojo that he once ruled as its ace student, and Daniel is having none of it.

Daniel and Johnny are facing off - again. Whereas Daniel is the picture of stability as a auto dealer and family man. According to EW fans can also look forward to seeing stars including Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Robby Keene, Ed Asner as Johnny's old-school stepfather, Sid Weinberg. At this time "Cobra Kai" still doesn't have an official premiere date; the teaser will only say it's "coming soon", and for those of us who love the 80s vibe it can't be soon enough. Courtney Henggeler from the hit "Mom" will play Daniel's wife Amanda, while Mary Mouser stars as his daughter, Samantha.

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg penned the script for "Cobra Kai", and will executive produce with Susan Ekins, Will Smith, James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett. "It's next generation Karate Kid". It looks like we may have our chance to find out, judging from the first teaser below for Cobra Kai.
