Michigan Radio's Lindsey Smith spoke with a friend of the suspected shooter.

CBS Chicago has confirmed that Davis graduated from the Plainfield School District in IL in 2016. Police say students should take shelter and call 911 if they see something suspicious.

Ross also said he wants students to talk about the incident over spring break.

The shooting occurred on the last day of classes before spring break.

UPDATE: 12:45 p.m.

Authorities were searching for James Eric Davis jnr.

Campbell Hall consists of suites.

During a press corps meeting, University Lt. Larry Klaus described Davis as "armed and dangerous" while also noting that the school was "safe".

Klaus said video at the dorm suggests Davis fled on foot after the shooting. He is considered armed and risky. He was wearing yellow trousers and a blue hoodie, but officers found items of clothing they believe were left by the suspect.

Klaus earlier asked members of the community to call 911 if they saw Davis, who was seen running away shortly after the shooting.

Michigan State Police say two people were shot and killed.

Mount Pleasant, Michigan authorities have identified 19 year old black youth, James Eric Davis.Jr as the individual opening gunfire inside a Central Michigan University dorm building, Friday morning that led to the deaths of two individuals.

There are no additional injuries.

The person of interest is James Eric Davis, Jr. After today's fatal shooting on campus, the game has been postponed. "Please go to the Comfort Inn, 2424 S. Mission St. University staff will be on site to support the families", the university said in a press release.

Following the shooting, Ferris Department of Public Safety worked to determine if Davis had any connection to Ferris, which is approximately 45 miles from CMU's campus.

According to Newsy's partners at WXYZ, police responded to reports of shots fired at the university.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder said on Twitter he was in contact with state police to determine what happened.

The suspect is still at large. According to initial reports from local news outlets, two people were shot near the fourth floor of Campbell Hall, one of the university's dormitories.
