Luigi's Mansion Remake for 3DS Announced at Nintendo Direct

For those who forgot about the original, Luigi's Mansion launched on the Nintendo GameCube on November 18, 2001 - short of two-decades ago.

Back in September long-time Nintendo developer Alpha Dream remade its very first Mario & Luigi game, Superstar Saga, for the Nintendo 3DS.

The game has not been given a release date, but instead has been slated for release this year.

Luigi's map will be visible on the bottom screen of the 3DS and has been completely reworked from the ground up.

Today's Nintendo direct started off with 3DS headlines delivering rapid fire announcements.

The visuals will naturally benefit from 3D effects, but there will also be a new boss rush mode to tackle. Of course, you could always boot up your Nintendo GameCube to play the original.

Tonight's Nintendo Direct kicked off with four quick-fire reveals, with a few others that came as a pleasant surprise a bit later on.

The original Luigi's Mansion was loved worldwide, selling over 2.5 million copies and is widely regarded as one of the best-selling GameCube games in the United States.
