England coach Eddie Jones apologises for insulting Ireland and Wales

England coach Eddie Jones apologises for insulting Ireland and Wales

The video shows Jones addressing a conference at Fuso, the parent company of England sponsors Mitsubishi, past year where he referred to the Irish as "scummy" and described Wales as a "shit place". I really don't have anything else to say on the matter.

"Every team I have had that has been a champion team has had these runs and they are instrumental in how you remake a team", said Jones. I don't need to say anything else on it.

"Ireland are preparing for a Grand Slam they don't need any extra motivation".

"I'm thankful for the collaboration between the WRU and Ospreys which will look after my best interests and enables me to play the best rugby possible", Jones said in a WRU statement on Friday. "I'm happy to answer questions on the fantastic game that is coming up but I think the other matter is dead".

And recalling a story about Japan's youth team being hammered by Wales, he added: "Wales!"

Tasmanian-born Jones also described Wales as "a little sh*t place".

The head coach has since apologised unreservedly following the emergence of the footage, but it appears that Ireland's rugby supporters have gotten the last laugh with Saturday's spectacular win over England at Twickenham.

And Care is also culled at scrum half with Richard Wigglesworth the new half-back pairing with Farrell. The second-row, who featured on the British and Irish Lions tour last summer, has been deployed at blindside flanker this season with Maro Itoje and Joe Launchbury playing at lock, and it further deepens England's back-row concerns given they are running out of experienced Test options.

Knee injuries to Nathan Hughes and Courtney Lawes see Sam Simmonds and James Haskell start, while captain Dylan Hartley is restored at hooker having recovered from a tight calf.

"We have had a couple of tough games on the road and to get back and play in front of our 24th man will be exciting for the players and they will be looking forward to putting in a good performance".

"So for us it has been an enormously beneficial tournament if disappointing because we are finding out about how to be a better team".

Outspoken at the best of times, Jones's style is fine as long as the results are going England's way though, with a less than healthy relationship with the media, there is already a sizeable constituency only too willing to turn on the Australian.
