Ingraham announces vacation as advertisers flee her Fox News show

Fox News' Laura Ingraham didn't learn after attacking National Basketball Association star LeBron James with her "Shut up and dribble" televised comments and is now feeling advertisers' wrath after mocking Parkland high school shooting victim David Hogg.

Ingraham, who has hosted the popular Ingraham Angle on Fox News since October 2017, apologized to Hogg on Twitter Thursday afternoon, after she had been widely criticized for taunting the 17-year-old for not being accepted into UCLA.

Ingraham issued an apology for her tweet and recognized that it could come across as offensive for Hogg and his classmates who experienced the tragedy.

Hogg also said he's furious that Ingraham included a clip of her interview with him at the end of her mea culpa tweets Thursday. Nutrish, TripAdvisor, Wayfair, Expedia, Nestle, Jos A Bank, Johnson & Johnson, Hulu, Stitch Fix, Jenny Craig, Office Depot, Honda, Liberty Mutual, Principal, Miracle-Ear, Ruby Tuesday, Atlantis, and Entertainment Studios have all announced they are cutting spend leaving IBM and side sponsors like MyPillow.

Shortly after Ingraham's apology, Hogg tweeted that he would only accept it "if you denounce the way your network has treated my friends and I in this fight".

TripAdvisor pointed to one of its company values - "We are better together" - in its decision to stop advertising on Ingraham's show.

For his part, Hogg appeared on CNN and refused to accept Ingraham's apology, noting that the gesture was just a reaction to losing her advertisers.

"We also believe Americans can disagree while still being agreeable, and that the free exchange of ideas within a community, in a peaceful manner, is the cornerstone of our democracy", the company said, according to The New York Times. In a statement provided to HuffPost, Johnson & Johnson said they also plan to pull advertising. Hogg asked his supporters to each contact three or four companies.

If this seems somewhat familiar, you may remember that it was about a year ago when longtime Fox News host Bill O'Reilly took what he said was a pre-planned break while dealing with an exodus of advertisers from his program.

Soooo @IngrahamAngle what are your biggest advertisers ...

Ingraham stepped in it earlier this week, when she snarked about Hogg's remarks about his college application rejections. "In our view, these statements focused on a high school student, cross the line of decency", the statement added.

On Wednesday morning, Ingraham tweeted a story from a conservative news site that described Hogg as a "Gun Rights Provocateur" who had not gained acceptance to four University of California schools.

The personal goods giant told HuffPost it "will pull advertising from Ms. Ingraham's show".
