Roseanne Barr faces backlash over Trump conspiracy theory tweet

ABC has to be delighted by these developments and has already announced that they've renewed the Roseanne reboot for a second season.

"We're thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes", ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in the release.

Roseanne was a ratings phenomenon in its return, notching a 5.2 rating in Live+Same Day viewing.

The news comes after the sitcom's premiere episode on Tuesday received record ratings, with a total viewer count of more than any other premiere episode this year.

The actress then admitted to having a videotape of her interviewing the president and director Michael Moore on her former talk show, but revealed that she originally thought Trump was a "populist". It's actually a Hollywood fantasy of what Trump voters are: "people who agree with Hollywood elites on values, but just disagree on economics because they're old white factory workers".

But she also got plenty of pushback.

As Behar's cohosts giggled along with her criticism of Trump, others offered their theories about why the show is still so popular.

On Thursday in Northeastern Ohio, Trump boasted about the "Roseanne" ratings and said he had called Barr.

Roseanne Barr referenced a conspiracy theory in a tweet suggesting President Trump rescued hundreds of kids from sex trafficking rings - then, after facing backlash on social media, said Twitter was "not the place" to mention freaky story.

The comedian's mention of Trump's part in stopping human trafficking has stirred up an interesting assortment of reactions on social media. He really understands ratings and how they measure things'. For the president, it's a rare bright spot among the major TV series, award ceremonies and late-night shows that regularly skewer him.

Like the original "Roseanne" in the 1990s, the show portrays a working class family.

She later seemed to walk back on the tweets, writing, "I have worked with victims of trafficking for decades & supported the fight against it".

Once there's a little more news in regards to Roseanne season 11, CarterMatt will certainly let you know!

"I got so lucky, because I was still getting hired for things, but the fact is, I was drinking at work", Goodman says on Sunday Today With Willie Geist.
