Hearts are breaking because Tinder is broken and it's Facebook's fault

Tinder is the go-to dating app for millions of users across the globe.

On Tinder, users were greeted by a pop-up titled "Facebook permissions" when they tried to log in with Facebook credentials. However, Tinder users trying to open the app are now reporting an error message titled "Facebook Permissions" that states users must provide additional Facebook permissions in order to use or create a Tinder account. If you tap "Ask me", which is also the only given option, the Tinder app requests you to log into Facebook once more and this is where the loop starts. Event Tinder's prompts show that the issue is yet to be resolved, refraining users from swiping left and right on the screen.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed via email that the social media company is indeed involved with the mess up. Facebook has been rushing to fix its relationship with users, and prevent any future misuses of data by third-parties.

After Cambridge Analytica was accused of accessing 87 million users' information in a most unwelcome way, the social network has unveiled a raft of changes to its APIs, restricting developers from accessing personal data. "This was part of the changes that we announced today, and we are working with Tinder to address this issue". "We ask our users to ensure that they have updated the app and are running the most recent version". "We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to have everyone swiping again soon", the dating app told the Verge Wednesday afternoon. At the moment, only iOS users in Sweden and Canada can give it a try but if it turns out to be successful, Tinder will release Loops to other markets as well. While this helped individuals find friends, Facebook said businesses that had phone or email information on customers were able to collect profile information this way. Facebook began approving these permissions individually in 2014, but it is now tightening the review process, requiring that apps sign agreements before gaining access to this data.
