Plane Crash on Arizona Golf Course Kills 6

Many people are feared to have died as a military plane crashed in Algeria, local media report.

The plane crashed on the TPC Scottsdale Champions Golf Course near Bell and North Hayden Roads in Scottsdale, Ariz. It did not identify the dead.

Mariah Coogan and Akash Patel were two of the victims on the flight that crashed in Scottsdale.

The identities of the deceased are being withheld until next-of-kin notifications are complete. It is just east of the TPC Stadium Course, where the annual Waste Management Phoenix Open is held. Nobody on the ground was hurt.

The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. Investigators at the site Tuesday morning examined the burned wreckage next to a tree.

The Algerian state radio has stated that more than 100 people have been killed in the plane crash.

The 1970 Piper PA-24 caught fire, Allen Kenitzer, a spokesman with the Federal Aviation Administration, said.

Gail wrote that Pedroza bought the Piper Comanche four years ago.

News of Mariah Coogan's death rippled through Cardinal Newman High School Tuesday, shocking the tightknit campus where many current students know the Coogan family, Rutherford said.
