Seattle Seahawks Canceled Planned Workout with Colin Kaepernick Over Kneeling Protest

Seattle has room on its roster for a backup quarterback after it cut Trevone Boykin in the wake of domestic violence allegations lodged against him by his longtime girlfriend. Kaepernick visited with the Seahawks previous year, but they opted to sign Austin Davis instead.

Rapoport confirmed the Seahawks had, in fact, scheduled a visit, but stated the postponement was not related to future anthem plans. "And at the last moment that trip was postponed, because a conversation occurred where they wanted to know what he was going to be doing on the field this year before and during the national anthem", Schefter said on NFL Live.

The Seattle Seahawks were all set to work out former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick earlier this week, but rescinded the invitation after he wouldn't say whether he plans to continue kneeling in protest during the national anthem, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

I'm guessing, if this is true, this would be the first case of a team clearly not considering him because of the kneeling. Can't wait for the league and the union to react to this if it's true.

Kaepernick has a pending lawsuit alleging collusion by the league office, owners and teams to keep him out of the NFL. A possible free-agent deal between Reid and the Bengals reportedly fell apart when the anthem issue was raised.

The report would seem to mark a change in Kaepernick's approach to his controversial protest. The team has also stood with interlocked arms during the anthem.

The coach is a 9/11 Truther and the players are sufficiently activist as to have earned the title of "the social justice warriors of the National Football League".

The anthem protest continued last season, with players from multiple teams kneeling, while others linked arms in their own form of protest and some players remained in the locker room while Star Spangled Banner was being played.

Which is to say Kaepernick, who is probably still good, and cheap for non-football reasons is a ideal fit.

Seattle still is considering bringing in Kaepernick for a tryout, and no decisions are final, a source said.
