Killed, 40 Wounded in Air Raid on Yemen Wedding

In late 2015, coalition air strikes on two wedding parties in northern Yemen killed at least 159 civilians.

Khaled al-Nadhri, the top health official in the northern province of Hajja, told The Associated Press on Monday that most of the dead were women and children who were gathered in one of the tents set up for the wedding party in the district of Bani Qayis. At least 17 women and children were killed in the strikes, according to official sources.

Saudi Arabia's southern city Najran, close to the border with Yemen, has suffered the brunt ever since the Houthi militia forces took over swathes of the country in a 2014 coup.

Hospital chief Mohammed al-Sawmali says the groom and 45 wounded guests were brought to the local al-Jomhouri Hospital.

This crime comes days after the threat of the coalition spokesman of the US-Saudi aggression, Turki al-Maliki, to launch more brutal strikes against the Yemeni people.

Graphic video of the airstrike's aftermath released by Houthi-run media showed a young boy clinging to his father's corpse and crying as medics tried to pull him away.

Its bombs have killed hundreds of civilians at hospitals, schools and markets.

A wedding ceremony in Yemen was targeted by Saudi airstrikes as the kingdom continues with its relentless war on the impoverished country.

Fighting intensified in March 2015, when the Houthis advanced on the government's temporary capital of Aden, prompting Saudi Arabia and its Sunni allies to start an air campaign against the Shiite group.

Yemen's conflict has sparked what the United Nations has called the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
