Mumbai terror attacks: Nawaz Sharif admits Pakistan's role

"Being held tomorrow morning", DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted. In an unprecedented move, the former Prime Minister admitted Saturday that militant outfits are active in the country, and were responsible for crossing the border and killing people in Mumbai on 26 November 2008. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill over 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. "Why can't we complete the trial?" - a reference to the Mumbai attacks-related trials which have stalled in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court.

It must be noted that Pakistan had been denying involvement in Mumbai attacks despite evidence provided by the Indian government.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army has chose to hold a high-level meeting on Monday to discuss the "recent misleading media statement" about Mumbai terror attack, PTI reported. The PTI leader also questioned the timing of Sharif's statements, asking why the former leader did not speak out when he was in power.

The spokesman said the PML-N as the country's premier popular national political party and its supreme leader (Nawaz Sharif) need no certificate from anybody on their commitment and capacity to preserve, protect and promote Pakistan's national security.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday said Pakistan's ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif's public acknowledgement that militant organisations were active in his country was a "serious disclosure" and said it proved India's position that the handlers of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack were in Pakistan.

Despite repeated efforts, India refused to share those facts and evidence with FIA and the investigative committee formed by Pakistani courts, he claimed.

Sharif did not name Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed and Maulana Masood Azhar's Jamaat-ud-Dawah and Jaish-e-Mohammad that operate in the country with impunity in the interview.

Shehbaz was speaking at a public rally in Mirpurkhas.

"Our mothers and sisters are being killed in Kashmir". For these traits, he stands a good chance to be elected as the PM after the outcome of next polls as matter finally rests with the voters who indeed will make choice for a better and prosperous Pakistan. "If India casts an evil eye upon Pakistan then the army and people of Pakistan will give a befitting reply", he said.
