Sokratis Papastathopoulos joins Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund

'Yes it is odd [to be reunited with his former teammates], but it is also very handsome that I come to one team where there are two players that I was together with for a number of years'.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos will reportedly be confirmed as an Arsenal player later today.

It's unsure whether he will partner Shkodran Mustafi or whether Emery will place faith in Calum Chambers as the new boss is said to be very keen on the Englishman.

Arsenal have completed a deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos for an undisclosed fee.

With Greece failing to qualify for the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup, Sokratis is expected to be with the squad from day one of pre-season and be fit in time for the start of the Premier League in August.

He follows the likes of Bernd Leno and Stephan Lichtsteiner while a move for Lucas Torreira is said to be edging closer.

He was seen having a tour of his new home before it was time for the all important medical.

Sokratis was snapped taking part in a photoshoot in his new club jersey before he sat down for his first interview with the Gunners.

The Gunners officially unveiled their third signing of the summer on Monday with the Greece global signing a long-term contract at the Emirates.

The Greek reunites with his former Dortmund colleague Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined during the winter window. "And of course they called me, not every day, but they called me a lot of times to [tell me to] come here".
