George Clooney injured in bike accident

Local news sources report that George Clooney, actor-husband to Amal, was rushed to the hospital following a motorcycle accident in Italy.

The 57-year-old was travelling to the set of his new TV show Catch 22 in Costa Corallina when a vehicle turned and struck him.

The driver of the auto did stop to call for an ambulance, which took the 57-year-old to the nearest hospital, Today reports.

Immediately after the crash, Clooney was transported to a nearby hospital.

Production on George Clooney's "Catch-22" is continuing as planned following his frightening scooter accident in Italy.

The film star smashed the windshield with his head and flew 30 feet from the auto, Avlon said Clooney relayed to him. Add George Clooney as an interest to stay up to date on the latest George Clooney news, video, and analysis from ABC News.

The star's rep released a statement saying, "George was treated and released from an Olbia hospital". "He is recovering at home and will be fine". Clooney's wife, human rights attorney Amal Clooney, rushed to be at his side.

The actor and director, 57, was taken to hospital following the incident but was later discharged with a minor knee injury, state news agency Ansa reported.

Clooney reportedly was in Sardinia filming a television miniseries adapted from Joseph Heller's World War II novel Catch-22. Fortunately, back in April, George Clooney stepped down from the lead role in the series, which Kyle Chandler took over.
