Homicide victim's family stages him playing video game at wake

That was the case for 18-year-old Renard Matthews, who loved video games and the Boston Celtics. WDSU-TV reports his body was positioned in a chair and he had a video game controller in his lap. But just how big of a fan was the New Orleans teen of the Boston Celtics star? For his wake, they made a decision to have him in a recliner wearing a Kyrie Irving jersey and matching socks, playing National Basketball Association 2K, with junk food on the side.

According to Matthews" mom, Temeka, her son was a "homebody' whose favorite athlete was indeed Irving.

One image showed the dead man lounging in an office chair in the middle of the funeral parlor, wearing his favorite sports attire and surrounded by some of his favorite snacks.

The softly-lit area was cordoned off with ropes and seats for family and friends attending the memorial were neatly laid out behind the body.
