Transfer: Mourinho gives Manchester United list of five players to buy

And that one, I gave a list to my club of five names a few months ago. If it's possible, good.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho revealed his frustration at a lack of new signings and a lengthening injury list after a heavy 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in MI.

Speaking to the media after the 4-1 International Champions Cup defeat to Liverpool in MI on Saturday evening, he again made it clear that he's far from satisfied with United's transfer business to date.

Mourinho however has given updates on why the trio couldn't play the game which, although only a pre-season match, some might say highlighted the disparity in the strength in depth of our team and that of Liverpool.

The Besiktas centre-back reached the World Cup final with Croatia - alongside Liverpool defender Lovren - and would likely be unavailable for the start of Liverpool's Premier league campaign against West Ham United on 12 August in the event he did join the Merseysiders.

Mourinho is under pressure to lead Manchester United to a serious Premier League title challenge next season after the Red Devils finished in second place and without a trophy last term.

Mourinho: Klopp has to deliver after spending spree

'Reinforcements, you are saying players I'd like to buy and add to the squad. That's another thing, but this is not my squad, this is not even half my squad, or 30 per cent of it.

"The majority of the players that played are not going to play - some of them are not even going to belong to the squad", he stated.

"You want him to be very happy with the players he has around him?" We are not playing here to improve the team or our dynamic or routines.

"And the poor man is there trying his best with the frustration of someone who wants more".

Explaining that he would ideally like two new players before the close of the window, Mourinho said that he only believed it was possible to bring in one more player.

Sturridge thought he might get the chance to grab a second moments later, but when Ander Herrera barged Andy Robertson in the back on 72 minutes, Ojo won the battle for the ball and stroked his penalty past Pereira.
