Giuliani: dozens more tapes of Cohen, Trump yet to be heard

Trump is on one tape discussing a possible payment to Karen McDougal, who said she had an affair with Trump, and there are another "11 or 12 others" in which Trump is discussed, Giuliani said. The tape, which was released last week by Cohen's attorney, was one of a dozen audio recordings seized by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents during an April raid on Cohen's home, office and hotel room, CNN reported.

Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani did a marathon circuit on the Sunday shows, showing his face on multiple networks to convince viewers that Michael Cohen is untrustworthy in an attempt to undermine his credibility before he inflicts more damage on President Donald Trump.

At the start of the interview the former NY mayor repeatedly refused to elaborate on a Sunday tweet from Trump which caused widespread comment.

"I'm happy to tell Mueller that Trump wasn't at the Trump Tower meeting", Giuliani said. "There was a major flurry of activity.you have to remember, we were understaffed on that campaign, we were underfunded relative to Secretary [Hillary] Clinton's campaign as well".

He went on to question Cohen's choice of retaining lawyer Lanny Davis, suggesting because of the decision that Bill and Hillary Clinton might have been behind Cohen's claim. He cited the president's tweets as being helpful to Mr. Trump's legal case, saying he has been able to lay out his defense for not granting an interview to Mueller's team.

Why would it matter if Trump knew about the Trump Tower meeting? .

"Arrived back in Washington last night from a very emotional reopening of a major U.S. Steel plant in Granite City, Illinois, only to be greeted with the ridiculous news that the highly conflicted Robert Mueller and his gang of 13 Angry Democrats obviously can not find Collusion...", Trump tweeted.

It has previously been reported that Trump believes a supposed dispute over golf club fees represents a potentially disqualifying conflict of interest for Mueller.

"I wish these guys could put down their arms, recognize the longevity of their relationship and stop the backbiting and the infighting", Scaramucci said.

Giuliani said the president is "disappointed" over Cohen's secret recordings, but said that they clear him from any suspicion of wrongdoing.

The role Cohen, a longtime personal confidant of Trump, might play in the Mueller probe is unknown.

The first such tape seems to contradict Giuliani, with Cohen and Trump discussing the delay of documents pertaining to Trump's divorce from his second wife, Ivana, until post-election.

After announcing that Trump's legal team was investigating the audio recording of Cohen and Trump to determine whether or not it had been doctored, an anonymous source associated with Cohen blatantly ridiculed Giuliani, calling him "unhinged" and accused him of lying.

The criticism of a man who was once Trump's fierce defender reflects the tensions wrought by the federal investigations in NY and Washington.

'Because he has the conflict, not the president, ' said Giuliani.

That inconsistency was seized upon by Rudy Giuliani, the president's attorney. That he is, as The New York Times put it yesterday, "increasingly living in a world of selected information and bending the truth to his own narrative. How stupid and unfair to our Country", he tweeted.
