Man United holds on to beat Real Madrid 2-1

José Mourinho retains the full backing of Manchester United's board, with the hierarchy understanding the manager's frustrations regarding signings and the number of players missing from the U.S. tour.

Mourinho has expressed his frustrations with United's business in this transfer window so far, having revealed that the club has not managed to buy any of his five main targets.

"I'm confident I will get one, but I think two I'm not going to get, which is not a drama", said Mourinho.

Manager Mourinho has publicly called out a few players, including Antonio Valencia and Anthony Martial, while taking aim at the club management for failing to sign the players he wanted.

"It's our nature, you always want more for your team but then club decisions are different and normally you don't get what you want which happened during all my career".

The Sun cites one case of an unnamed player in a panic asking the TV channel he gave an interview to erase an answer he gave them.

The manager continued to fuel fires of a possible Martial exit from the club when he told reporters following United's 2-1 victory in the International Champions Cup that he was uncertain if Martial would return to the club.

"With the fantastic spirit we have in the majority of the players, I repeat: In the majority of the players, we have a fantastic spirit, we go with everything we have to the Premier League", Mourinho said.

Mourinho was in exactly the same position as Zidane before he agreed to join United when Louis van Gaal was still in the hot seat at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese has been without 12 key players for most of the tour with many enjoying an extended break following the World Cup.
