North Korea Is Building New Missiles

More than 35,000 Americans were killed on the Korean Peninsula during the war and around 7,700 of them are still considered missing, including 5,300 in North Korea alone.

The reports about new missile construction come after recent revelations about a suspected uranium enrichment facility, called Kangson, that North Korea is operating in secret.

North Korea only handed over one military dog tag when it provided 55 boxes of bones it said were remains of American soldiers killed in the Korean War, a USA defense official told the AP, per The Guardian.

"It is not a signal about Pyongyang´s willingness to denuclearize or even reform its ways, and policymakers should not be fooled or distracted from the primary source of tension - North Korea´s nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles", he said.

The Pentagon said it was "absolutely" considering the possibility of sending personnel to North Korea for this objective. The officials who spoke to the Post said the evidence doesn't show that North Korea is growing its nuclear potential, but that it is still working on constructing modern weapons.

Their schemes include potentially claiming that they have completely denuclearized by declaring and disposing of 20 warheads while keeping dozens more, the Post wrote.

The factory reportedly produced two ICBMs, including the Hwasong-15 - a missile capable of reaching the US East Coast.

Before the remains were put on military planes bound for Hawaii, hundreds of US and South Korean troops gathered at a hanger at the Osan base in South Korean for the repatriation ceremony.

"We are doing well in North Korea, although I happen to think that we're doing so well with China that China maybe is getting in our way", Trump said, noting that Kim has continued to refrain from launching missiles. "We'll see what happens".

Critics caution the move is largely symbolic, since the facility can easily be rebuilt.

That was the latest in a series of reports casting doubt on whether the communist state is truly committed to abandoning its hard-won nuclear weapons. The Monterey, California, nonprofit group analyzed commercial photos obtained from the satellite imagery firm Planet.

However, a United States official told news agency Reuters that a liquid-fuelled ICBM didn't "pose almost the threat that a solid-fuelled one would because they take so long to fuel".

Ministers from the two Koreas agreed in April to push for a unified delegation from both countries to parade together in the opening ceremony at the Asian Games, to be staged in August and September. How the trailer was being used at the time of the photograph is unclear.

A nonprofit group in California called the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies recently published images of a large industrial facility that some USA intelligence analysts believe is the Kangson uranium enrichment plant.

Historical satellite photos show that the facility was externally complete by 2003.

North Korea isn't violating any promise I know of by continuing to work on ICBMs or by enriching uranium.

The United States and North Korea conducted joint searches from 1996 until 2005, when Washington halted the operations, citing concerns about the safety of its personnel as Pyongyang stepped up its nuclear program.
