Arsenal set to face Ousmane Dembele competition from Manchester United

Manchester United have rejected an unexpected offer from Barcelona for midfielder Paul Pogba.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is a huge fan of the Frenchman, says the Express, and he is willing to pay Barca £9m to bring the 21-year-old on loan to the Emirates.

FC Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has admitted he is a big admirer of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba amid reports linking the 2018 FIFA World Cup star with a move to the Blaugrana.

Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Dembele returned to first-team training last week following his success at the World Cup.

Behind all the moves are the Machiavellian hands of 26-year-old Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola.

As a result, Ferdinand - who made over 450 appearance for United - wants Pogba to stay and Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld to come in.

AC Milan are reported to be joining the hunt for Manchester United's Anthony Martial.

Beyond the sensational headline, the Mail report does at least admit that United have "flatly denied" that Woodward has received any such message from Pogba. The Hornets have bid £10m for the 23-year-old.

The two frequently clashed last season, arguing over Pogba's best position, while Mourinho put their relationship under further strain with some questionable comments about his midfielder's performances at the World Cup.

In an interview with ESPN FC two weeks ago, Mourinho questioned why Pogba's performances in Russian Federation were so much better than his displays for United last season.

Barcelona's offer of Mina as part of the Pogba deal is due to the fact Mourinho is desperate to strengthen his defence.

The World Cup victor is said to have grown disillusioned with life under Jose Mourinho, which has sparked interest from the La Liga champions - though time is likely to save United's blushes with less than 48 hours until the end of the window.
