Crystal Palace Digging In To Keep Chelsea and Tottenham Target Wilfried Zaha

Chelsea have been cleared to push ahead with a deal for Wilfried Zaha after Tottenham withdrew their interest due to Crystal Palace's £75m asking price, according to the Mirror.

Zaha is a man in demand as the transfer window for Premier League clubs to make signings enters its final stretch.

An attacker is on the agenda for the Chelsea boss as Willian appears to be pushing for a move away from west London and Zaha could be viewed as the ideal replacement for the Brazilian global.

Williams, who remains under contract with Palace until 2019, is well aware of the battle he faces to get into Hodgson's plans this season.

Zaha is settled in London after leaving Palace in 2013 for an ill-fated spell at Old Trafford that saw him spend much of the next two seasons out on loan.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic over the past few weeks, while a move for Manchester United's Anthony Martial has also been mooted.

Zaha contributed nine goals and three assists from 29 top-flight appearances last season.

The 25-year-old Ivory Coast global bagged nine goals and three assists last term, despite missing five weeks of the season injured.

The winger has rejected a contract offer from Palace already this summer and is believed to be angling for a move away.

"That would lead to comments that we don't think he's good enough to play elsewhere". And signing Zaha, before Thursday's transfer deadline day, could prove to be a step in that direction for the Blues.
