Has the Mystery of the Woman Seen in Shackles Been Solved?

The mystery woman who was seen in a viral video, wearing hand restraints and no trousers while ringing doorbells in a South Texas neighborhood, has been identified by police.

Police say her boyfriend was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Police in Montgomery County, Texas, which lies north of Houston, said late Wednesday that the woman seen in the footage had been the victim of an abusive boyfriend and is now safe with family members outside the county.

The man had made suicidal threats and comments and is believed to have taken his own life.

Another home-owner in the area, who did not wish to be identified, said her doorbell rang at least 20 times Friday night, prompting her husband to make his way downstairs and to their front door.

When deputies arrived, they found the man's body inside the home.

The sheriff's office first put out an alert on Sunday asking for the public's help identifying the woman captured on home surveillance video in the Sunrise Ranch Subdivision. But he said the woman in the video had not been reported missing.

Neighbors tell police the woman rang several doorbells, but no one got to her before she vanished.

The woman is wearing a night gown and has nothing on her feet or legs.

Rachael says she is able to recognize her sister's tattoos in the video.

The man's girlfriend, a 32-year-old woman, is confirmed to be the woman in the video.

"The female is confirmed to be safe and with family".

Authorities are continuing to investigate.

"She is safe and is being consoled by her family at this time", Lt. Scott Spencer of MCSD told reporters.

Authorities have conducted a door-to-door search of local homes and businesses and circulated images of the woman on social media.

"Numerous citizens in the state and outside have sent missing persons flyers suggesting the women in the video is a missing person from their area", the Sheriff's Office said.
