Olivia Newton-John reveals third secret cancer diagnosis in emotional chat

Singer and actress Olivia Newton-John has opened up about battling cancer for the third time.

She first confirmed at the end of May past year that she is battling the insidious disease again.

Speaking about keeping the diagnoses under wraps, she said: 'I thought, "It's my life" and I just chose to keep it to myself'.

"A lot of people see it as a fight, and that's however you choose to see it, that's your prerogative".

She told the programme she is using marijuana to help with the physical pain and has also cut sugar from her diet.

She said she hopes her native Australia will legalize medical marijuana.

Newton-John says said she's "treating it naturally and doing really well". "I'm very lucky that I live in a state where it's legal and that I have a husband that is a plant-medicine man".

Olivia's husband of ten years, John Easterling, is founder of the Amazon Herb Company, and grows cannabis for her at their ranch in Santa Barbara, California.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 which she overcame, in the process becoming a fierce advocate for breast cancer screening.

She bounced back and returned to the stage, but last month, she had to cancel two speaking appearances amid reports suggesting she was sick again.

The Grease star, 69, said she's received radiation therapy and is also pursuing natural remedies, reports Billboard.

In 1978, Newton-John moved into the pop mainstream as she starred in the movie musical "Grease" with John Travolta.

"What we all thought she defeated is still there", he said. I see as part of my mission.

Opening up on their friendship and performing together, the star broke down in tears on camera and admitted: "When I look at her..." But she stressed that "I believe I will win over it". I have an incredible career. However, while the star put on a courageous face during the interview, she revealed she does have her moments of despair but just wouldn't be having them in front of the camera. I have nothing, really, to complain about'.
