Googles mailing app Inbox to discontinue from March 2019

Inbox was launched in 2014 and was initially positioned as a platform for testing new features, some of which moved to Gmail.

It's a sad day for lovers of Google's experimental email app. Gmail had a market share of 27 percent as of July, but Inbox, despite some initial hype from the tech press, was always a niche product. "As a result, we're planning to focus exclusively on Gmail and say goodbye to Inbox by Gmail at the end of March 2019".

This past April, Google added all of the aforesaid features to the new version of Gmail on the web and on mobile. After reading an email, you didn't delete or archive it, you just marked it "Done".

"We introduced the new Gmail in April this year, incorporating numerous same features you've come to love about Inbox plus newer features like Smart Compose, which helps you draft emails faster", Izatt explained. What that means is that the email can be revoked at the expiration of a set date. It brought several notable features to improve the email experience. Snooze made the jump to Gmail with. In that announcement, the internet giant also said the Gmail Offline Chrome app would stop working at some point and recommended that users remove it and install the new offline functionality for the Gmail app instead. The app primarily focused on viewing emails on smartphones and included features that were not available on the regular Gmail app. So there is no point to continue with two email apps by the Google with nearly same features.

Gmail is expected to welcome more of those features in Inbox, which might make the former even more popular among users everywhere. New Gmail has tabs and tags to categorize specific messages, but it doesn't have the intelligence of Inbox to travel.
